“Much Too Long” by The Sounds.
Sometimes I wake up with this song in my head. It’s got a catchy hook, but that’s about all I have to say about it:
“Much Too Long” by The Sounds.
Sometimes I wake up with this song in my head. It’s got a catchy hook, but that’s about all I have to say about it:
Fugazi, Blueprint

“I’m not playing with you, I’m not playing with you, I’m not playing with you, yeah you!”
What more could you want from lyrics?
Sonic Youth, Dirty Boots

Maybe one of my favorite opening riffs of any song
Sonic Youth, Teen Age Riot

Everybody’s talking ’bout the stormy weather
And what’s a man do to but work out whether it’s true?
Looking for a man with a focus and a temper
Who can open up a map and see between one and two
It seems this blog hasn’t been updated lately. I still think it’s a great idea, though, so I’m pleased to share the following:
It’s a creepy, ambient vibe with an amazing bass line that manages to suck me in and keep me guessing at the same time as it juxtaposes solid riffing with asymmetrical time signatures. I don’t know much about the Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, but I dig their stuff. I suppose “darkjazz” is a good enough genre label, though “ambient” might work. At their best they sound like something between Aphex Twin and Medeski, Martin and Wood.
The Cars “Candy-O”
I haven’t been able to get the entire album of “Candy-O” out of my head, but in particular these songs:
It’s All I Can Do:
Double Life:
Lust for Kicks:
Gotta a lot on My Head:
Pavement “Summer Babe (Winter Version)”
While they suck live, they certainly hit the ball out of the park with “Slanted and Enchanted”

Blink 182’s “I Miss You” is cheesy as all hell & yet perhaps this is why it is also a certain brand of delicately perfect pop: http://darknight05.uboot.com/mm/01/75280...
The chorus, I’m afraid, is everything. I’ve always thought the harmonies & double vocals are the secrets behind the temporary magic of this band, & this is a subtle example of that. The string work, too, is very effective. This song has been stuck in my head for more than a week now; it’s something charming, somehow.
Guided by Voices “Motor Away”
Thanks to the Abject, this has become one of my favorite tunes.
